Beberapa Penyebab Bayi Tidak Mau Minum Susu / Help! My baby won't drink my breastmilk

Jika Menolak ASI, kemungkinan disebabkan oleh :
1. Kurang sehat.

Help! My baby won't drink my breastmilk:(?

I haven't had any problems breast-feeding my 3 week old daughter until just now. Whenever she starts drinking my milk she just starts screaming. At first I thought maybe she just needed to burp or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I think she won't drink it because I ate a bunch of strawberries earlier and I haven't had them since she was born - perhaps she is allergic or just doesn't like how it makes my milk taste. So, what should I do? Should I pump out whats in me and just wait until my breasts reload and make her go hungry? Or should I try to give her formula? I don't know what to do and she just keeps screaming. Please help me.

Answer1 :
I just remembered something! My daughter went through this exact same thing and I finally figured out the reason was because she was upset that my milk wouldn't start flowing immediately. With my doctor's help, I figured out a solution. I pumped a little milk, put it in a dropper, started to nurse her then when the screaming would start I would give her some milk in the dropper. I would then put her back on my breast and continue this until she stopped screaming...which meant that my milk was spraying out like crazy. This was a very difficult task, but it worked out great and this phaze she went through didn't last long. The doctor told me that it's actually means the baby is developing mentally very well, and knew what she wanted, when it didn't come immediately at the flow she wanted then she got upset.

Answer2:
There's a number of different things that could be causing your baby to be upset. Yes, it's possible that it's the strawberries. I had to give up all caffeine, aspartame (artificial sweetner in a lot of diet or sugar free things), pepper (the kind that goes with salt) and spicy foods. What we eat DOES have an impact on how our milk tastes. So it could be that the sudden shift in your diet has caused her upset.

You can try pumping and feeding her with a medicine spoon, dropper, or cup (Yes my daughter did drink from a cup once at a couple weeks old so it's possible). Sometimes if it's offered in something other than the breast, they'll drink.

Comfort her as much as possible. Rock her, sing to her, talk to her, walk with her, and just try to get her to calm down before offering the breast. A warm bath may help. Make sure her diaper is clean too.

It is also a possibility that she has reflux, kind of like baby heart burn.
Also possible that she may have gas that's making her tummy hurt.

On much rarer circumstances, it's possible that she's developed a lactose allergy that causes her pain when she nurses, but if it's just popped up now out of nowhere, chances are that this is not the case. It usually starts slower and gets a lot worse over a couple days.

More than likely it's just temporary. As nerve wracking as it is now, it'll subside sooner than later. DON'T give formula. It tastes wayyyy worse than breast milk no matter what you ate, and if you supplement even a little your supply will start to go down. Studies have shown that when mothers consume garlic it makes babies nurse for longer and they drink more, so maybe have a few garlic toasts or something? It couldn't hurt to try.

Answer3 :
Some babies are sensitive to what moms eat. My daughter did the same thing. She would latch on then get off immediately and cry. She did this for about a week. What should have been a 20 minute feeding turned into an hour each time with her crying the whole time. She was diagnosed with acid reflux. I was told to cut out dairy, greens, spicy foods, peppers, and caffeine. Once Sophie was given the medication she did a LOT better. As she grew older I began to add those foods back to my diet and she has done great with everything. No, just keep offering her the breast and she will eat when she's hungry. If this goes on for a few feedings I would call the pediatrician right away. Do you have a lactation consultant you can talk to? I will add a link for you to check out. They have a LC you can talk to tonight via their web page. You have to join the website (don't worry about spam or anything, I've never gotten anything from them) and then you can ask your question and get a live response. Good luck!
